Within the Hōhepa community there are a variety of supported living options to cater to individual needs, preferences and capabilities. We currently have over 150 people living in Hōhepa homes, across our Birchfield site in Somerfield, Halswell Farm and also in the wider community.
Levels of support varies according to individual requirements. We have a diverse range of living options from full time staffing, to houses that are more like independent ‘flatting’.
Apart from several one and two bedroom cottages, homes contain 4-6 bedrooms and are surrounded by lawns and gardens. Our Somerfield campus is on Barrington Street, which is a busy road with bus stops and the local shopping centre within walking distance. Our Halswell campus has a mix of houses and flats set among 40 acres of farmland.
Everyone we support at Hōhepa has access to the Artemis and Gaia Centres with activity rooms, dining areas and catering facilities. The Hōhepa Hall in Somerfield includes three therapy rooms. The hall is a beautiful building designed with the same double centred elliptical concept that the anthropospically inspired Goetheanum evolved from.
The main criteria for residence at Hōhepa is that the person we support should be diagnosed as having an intellectual disability, have New Zealand residence and be eligible for a residential support subsidy, as determined by a Needs Assessment Co-ordination Service.
